What we make

Every wedding film collection includes a Cinematic Feature Film and Fragments as standard. Additional formats — Chapter Films, the Cinematic Short, and Super 8 — are available to build a more complete record of your celebration.

01

The Feature Film

A 4–6 minute cinematic wedding film shaped by pacing, music, and narrative intent — built to reflect the emotional arc of your day rather than recap its timeline. The primary deliverable in every collection.

02

Fragments

A 30–60 second short-form motion piece drawn from the day — fleeting moments, movement, atmosphere. An impressionistic companion to the Feature Film included with every collection.

03

Chapter Films

Full-length, multi-camera documentary edits of individual moments — ceremony, toasts, first dances, or other chapters. Each is a complete, standalone wedding film with professional audio capture.

04

The Cinematic Short

A 90–120 second wedding film shaped entirely by movement, light, and atmosphere — more instinct than narrative. An addition to any collection for couples who want something immediate and visceral alongside the Feature Film.

05

Super 8 Film

Shot on real analog film stock — not a digital filter or preset. Professionally processed and scanned in 4K. A grain-rich, tactile visual layer that adds a genuinely timeless quality to mountain wedding films in Vail, Aspen, Telluride, and beyond.

Where we work

Colorado’s mountain
markets, and beyond.

We are based in Denver and work across Colorado’s mountain wedding markets — with deep familiarity at venues throughout the Vail Valley, Beaver Creek, Aspen, Telluride, Buena Vista, Breckenridge, and the Front Range. We travel regularly for destination work across the American West and internationally.

Every region photographs and films differently. Our location pages cover what each market looks and feels like to document — in detail.

Questions

About By The West
Wedding Films

Do you offer both wedding photography and videography in Colorado?

Yes — By The West offers fully integrated Colorado wedding photography and videography. Most couples book both together, which means one creative team with a single visual sensibility present throughout the entire day. There is no handoff between a photographer and a separate video crew — everything is documented through the same approach and the same commitment to how things actually felt. Browse our photography work on the Stills page and our films throughout this page.

What areas of Colorado do you film weddings in?

We film weddings throughout Colorado, with the most concentrated experience in the mountain resort markets. As a Vail and Beaver Creek wedding videographer, we work regularly at Donovan Pavilion, Beano’s Cabin, and Park Hyatt Beaver Creek. As an Aspen wedding videographer, we document celebrations at Patak Ranch, Viceroy Snowmass, and across the Roaring Fork Valley. As a Telluride wedding videographer, we cover Mountain Lodge Telluride, Dunton Hot Springs, and remote backcountry ceremonies throughout the San Juan Mountains. We also work regularly in Denver, Buena Vista, Breckenridge, and Steamboat Springs, and travel for destination work across the American West and internationally.

What wedding films are included with every collection?

Every videography collection includes a Cinematic Feature Film (4–6 minutes, shaped by pacing, music, and narrative intent) and Fragments (a 30–60 second short-form motion piece capturing fleeting moments and atmosphere). Both are delivered in 4K, privately hosted, and fully shareable. Chapter Films — full-length, multi-camera documentary edits of key moments like the ceremony, toasts, or first dances — are available as additions to any collection, as are the Cinematic Short and Super 8 film.

What makes a good Vail or Beaver Creek wedding videographer?

The Vail Valley presents specific challenges and opportunities for wedding videography that differ significantly from Front Range or destination work. Altitude, mountain light, and the logistical complexity of venues like Beano’s Cabin — accessible only by shuttle — demand a filmmaker who has worked these venues before and understands how the day moves. We have documented weddings across Donovan Pavilion, Beano’s Cabin, Park Hyatt Beaver Creek, and the Westin Riverfront across multiple seasons, giving us firsthand knowledge of where and when the light works best, how to navigate transitions between ceremony and reception sites, and how to stay unobtrusive in intimate alpine settings. Our Vail wedding photographer and videographer page covers this in more depth.

Do you offer Super 8 film for Colorado mountain weddings?

Yes — Super 8 is available as an add-on to any primary collection. We shoot on real analog film stock — not a filter or preset. The footage is professionally processed and scanned in 4K, then woven into your wedding film as a distinct visual layer. For mountain weddings in Vail, Beaver Creek, Aspen, and Telluride especially, Super 8 captures the quality of high-alpine light and landscape in a way that feels genuinely timeless — a texture that belongs to a different era of image-making. Mention Super 8 when you reach out and we can walk through how it integrates with your coverage.

How is your approach to wedding videography different?

We work observationally — in the background, reading the room, moving with the day rather than directing it. There are no posed video moments, no scripted reactions, no pulling you away from the people you are with. Our Colorado wedding films feel like memories rather than productions. That comes through most clearly when you watch them with the sound off — the images carry the story on their own, with audio as a layer rather than a crutch. If you value that kind of restraint in a videographer, we are likely a fit.

How far in advance should I book a Colorado wedding videographer?

For peak season weekends — June through October across Colorado’s mountain markets — 12 to 18 months in advance is standard. September dates in the Vail Valley, Aspen, and Telluride book fastest, driven by aspen color and the strongest photography and videography conditions of the year. We take on a limited number of weddings each year by design, so specific dates do close. If you have a venue and date in mind, reach out through our booking page to confirm availability before anything else.

When will I receive my Colorado wedding film?

Wedding films are delivered within 12 to 16 weeks of your wedding date, depending on coverage scope and time of year. We prioritize quality over speed — editing a cinematic wedding film properly takes time, and we do not rush the process to hit an arbitrary date. Specific delivery timelines are confirmed in your agreement. All films are delivered privately, password protected, and fully shareable for online playback.

Do you travel for destination wedding films outside Colorado?

Yes — while Colorado is our primary market as a wedding videographer, we regularly film destination weddings across the American West and internationally. Past work includes Utah, California, the Pacific Northwest, Iowa, and abroad. We approach destination projects selectively, taking on work where the landscape, the couple, and the celebration feel genuinely aligned with how we tell stories. Reach out through our booking page to discuss availability and travel logistics.

What is the investment for wedding videography in Colorado?

Colorado wedding videography collections begin at $6,500 for 8-hour base coverage, with full-day collections available for celebrations requiring extended presence. Every collection includes a Cinematic Feature Film and Fragments, both delivered in 4K. Super 8, Chapter Films, and the Cinematic Short are available as additions. Couples booking both photography and film receive a single integrated proposal shaped around the full scope of the day. Begin the conversation through our booking page.

What is the difference between the Feature Film and the Cinematic Short?

The Feature Film (4–6 minutes) is a complete cinematic narrative of your wedding day — structured around the arc of events, built with intentional pacing, scored, and designed to be watched as a film. The Cinematic Short (90–120 seconds) is something different in intent — impressionistic, instinctive, shaped more by movement and atmosphere than sequence or story. Some couples add both to their collection; others find the Feature Film and Fragments give them everything they need. We can walk through what makes sense for the specific shape of your day during our initial conversation.
