An introduction

Eagle County is Colorado’s most established luxury wedding region. The Vail Valley stretches from Vail Village through Avon and into Beaver Creek Resort, offering a depth of venue options, vendor ecosystems, and mountain infrastructure that no other region in the state can match. Whether the vision is an intimate alpine cabin reached by shuttle, a grand resort celebration across a full destination weekend, or a classic pavilion wedding beside Gore Creek, the valley holds it all. For couples seeking a more focused look at Beaver Creek, explore our dedicated Beaver Creek venue guide.

This guide covers the venues in the Vail Valley and Beaver Creek that we have personally documented over more than a decade of weddings in Eagle County. The perspective is a firsthand one, focused on what these spaces actually feel like, how they photograph across seasons, and what makes each one distinct as a setting for a celebration. For couples deciding between Vail and other Colorado regions, the broader context lives in our full Colorado venue guide.

If you have already chosen a venue, find it below and follow the link to its full dedicated guide. If you are still deciding, start with the planning metrics below and the seasonal guidance before evaluating individual properties.

Venue Rental Fees

Most venue rentals fall between $5,500 and $25,000+ for the space alone. Peak summer and fall dates, inclusive catering, and premium resort locations push costs toward the higher end. Total wedding budgets in the Vail Valley typically start around $50,000 and scale to $200,000+ for full destination weekends.

Guest Size Spectrum

Intimate alpine: 20 to 75 guests
Mid-size elegant: 75 to 150 guests
Grand celebration: 150 to 300+ guests

Beano’s Cabin and Donovan Pavilion are strongest at mid-size. Park Hyatt, Grand Hyatt, and The Hythe scale to larger counts without losing character.

Booking Timeline

Peak summer Saturdays at flagship venues book 18 to 24 months in advance. September weekends, the strongest photography season, follow the same timeline. Shoulder season dates and Fridays offer meaningfully more flexibility. If you have a specific date in mind, begin venue conversations as early as possible.

Beano's Cabin wedding venue surrounded by aspen trees in Beaver Creek Colorado
Venue 01 / Beaver Creek

Beano’s Cabin

Beano’s Cabin sits at approximately 9,000 feet above Beaver Creek Village, accessible only by shuttle through the resort’s alpine terrain. The journey to the cabin is part of the experience itself. Guests arrive together, settle into the landscape, and the pace of the day shifts naturally before the ceremony begins.

The venue is defined by its sense of separation. Unlike resort properties at the base of the mountain, Beano’s Cabin feels genuinely remote while still delivering a refined level of hospitality. Ceremonies typically take place outdoors with open meadow and mountain views; receptions move inside where warm wood interiors and candlelight create an atmosphere that is intimate without being rustic.

From a photography standpoint, Beano’s Cabin is exceptional. The elevation provides dramatic mountain light, the aspen groves offer natural portrait settings in every season, and the sense of contained intimacy produces moments that are emotionally charged and visually cohesive. It is among the most consistently rewarding venues in Colorado to document. A wedding we photographed here was later featured on Carats and Cake.

Park Hyatt Beaver Creek resort wedding venue with mountain backdrop in Colorado
Venue 02 / Beaver Creek

Park Hyatt Beaver Creek

Park Hyatt Beaver Creek occupies the center of Beaver Creek Village with direct ski-in, ski-out access and panoramic views of the surrounding Rockies. As the valley’s most established luxury resort property, it offers a seamless destination wedding experience, with on-site accommodations, spa, dining, and walkable village access all within a single, cohesive property.

The venue supports a wide range of ceremony and reception configurations, from outdoor terraces framed by alpine peaks to sophisticated indoor ballrooms suited for multi-day celebrations. It is especially well matched for couples hosting destination weekends where guests are traveling from outside Colorado. The friction of logistics largely disappears when the venue, accommodation, and hospitality all exist under one roof.

Photographically, Park Hyatt offers consistent outdoor light on the south-facing terraces, strong interior detail work, and a polished backdrop that suits both editorial and documentary approaches. The resort’s elevation and open aspect make it particularly strong for late afternoon and golden hour portraits against the Beaver Creek ridgeline.

Donovan Pavilion wedding venue in Vail Colorado with Gore Creek and mountain views
Venue 03 / Vail

Donovan Pavilion

Donovan Pavilion sits at the edge of Vail Village with Gore Creek bordering the property and the surrounding mountains rising in every direction. It occupies a middle ground that few Vail venues can claim, genuinely alpine in atmosphere but fully accessible for guests, without the remote logistics of shuttle-only mountain properties.

The Pavilion’s clean architectural lines, expansive windows, and flexible floor plan make it one of the most design-adaptable venues in Eagle County. It supports everything from intimate 80-person celebrations to formal black-tie events for 200 guests, and the neutral interior can be transformed completely depending on the creative vision. The open lawn and stone terrace allow outdoor ceremonies that feel connected to the landscape without weather dependence.

One of Donovan Pavilion’s most notable strengths for photography is its natural light. The large windows and south-facing orientation provide consistently beautiful midday and afternoon light that requires minimal supplemental lighting during the ceremony and cocktail hour. It is one of the few Vail venues where the interior photographs almost as well as the exterior.

Westin Riverfront Resort wedding in Beaver Creek Colorado with mountain and river views
Venue 04 / Beaver Creek

Westin Riverfront Resort

The Westin Riverfront sits along the Eagle River in Avon, offering a full-service resort experience that bridges the Vail Valley’s two major wedding markets, Vail Village to the east and Beaver Creek Resort to the west. The property’s position gives couples flexibility in where their guests are based while keeping access to both resort experiences straightforward.

The Westin is a strong fit for larger celebrations and multi-day destination weekends. With on-site accommodations, multiple event spaces, and river access, it supports a full wedding weekend without guests needing to travel between properties. The riverfront setting provides a distinct natural element, water, willows, and the surrounding valley floor, that contrasts with the higher alpine character of Beano’s Cabin or Park Hyatt.

For photography, the riverfront location offers unique portrait opportunities along the Eagle River, particularly at golden hour when the valley light goes warm and soft. The property’s modern architecture photographs cleanly, and the combination of water and mountain backdrop is rare in Eagle County.

Snowy winter wedding ceremony at Grand Hyatt Vail Colorado with mountain backdrop
Venue 05 / Vail

Grand Hyatt Vail

Grand Hyatt Vail sits along Gore Creek with an extensive range of indoor and outdoor event spaces, including the Gore Pavilion, a remodeled outdoor structure with skylights and interior heating that performs exceptionally well in shoulder season and weather windows that would compromise fully outdoor venues. It is the most capacity-flexible venue in the core Vail area.

The Gore Pavilion is the real differentiator here. What sounds like a tent venue on paper actually delivers a skylighted, climate-controlled space that retains genuine alpine atmosphere without the weather exposure of a traditional outdoor ceremony. Planners choose Grand Hyatt specifically when they need a venue that can feel intimate at 80 guests and scale to a major production without the reception feeling outsized.

For couples with significant guest counts, including larger Indian weddings and multi-day cultural celebrations, The Hythe’s Grand Ballroom and Grand Hyatt’s combined spaces represent the only Vail Valley option that can handle real capacity without compromising on the resort experience.

Mountain top wedding ceremony at Holy Cross Event Deck on Vail Mountain Colorado
Venue 06 / Vail Mountain

Vail Wedding Deck

The most iconic way to get married in Vail is on the deck at the top of the Eagle Bahn Gondola. Officially the Holy Cross Event Deck and just as often called the Vail Wedding Deck, it is a stone amphitheater set high above Lionshead with the Vail Valley falling away below and the Gore Range running across the horizon. It is a ceremony site only, and it is the single most requested one in Eagle County.

The gondola arrival is what makes it work. Guests ride up together over aspen and evergreen, then walk a few minutes to the amphitheater, the same shared-moment quality that defines Beano’s Cabin, at a scale nothing else in the valley matches. Receptions happen elsewhere: Eagle’s Nest sits closest at the top of the same gondola, The 10th offers the most polished seated dinner on the mountain, and Arrabelle Square brings the celebration back down to Lionshead.

Timing and logistics matter more here than almost anywhere else. The deck runs mid-June through mid-September on set ceremony slots, and everything is built around the lift, guest arrival, vendor load-in, and the last down-ride of the evening. There is a real trade-off in the slot you choose: midday is the safer bet against August afternoon storms, while the later slots deliver the warm, directional light that makes mountain portraits work. A planner who knows the mountain is essential either way.

Additional Vail Valley Venues

Other properties we know well

The following venues are part of the Vail Valley’s wedding landscape but are not yet represented in our personal photography archive. The writeups below draw on direct familiarity with the properties rather than first-hand wedding coverage.

Vail Village

Sonnenalp Hotel

European alpine hospitality at its most refined, with Bavarian-inspired architecture, creekside cocktail terraces, and a warmth of service that few Vail properties match. Particularly strong for couples who want a timeless, classic mountain aesthetic with genuine intimacy. Creekside ceremony and cocktail hour settings are among the most photographically compelling in the village.

Capacity: 100 to 220 From: ~$10,000
Bachelor Gulch

Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch

The most prestige-forward venue in the valley, with panoramic Grand Lawn ceremonies, refined indoor receptions, and a multi-day destination weekend culture built into the property’s DNA. Couples book here for luxury that guests remember for years. The Ski Bridge connecting the property is a unique portrait setting that no other Vail Valley venue can offer.

Capacity: Up to 250 From: ~$35,000
Vail Village

The Hythe

The most flexible large-capacity venue in core Vail. The Grand Ballroom scales to nearly 1,000 guests, making The Hythe the only option in Vail Village for high guest-count weddings, large Indian celebrations, and multi-room productions where ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, and afterparty each occupy a distinct, intentional space.

Capacity: Up to 1,000 From: ~$25,000
Vail Village

Four Seasons Vail

Polished indoor event spaces with the Four Seasons standard of service and accommodations. Ceremony options are more limited than mountain or creekside venues, but the guest experience in terms of hospitality, comfort, and overall quality is among the strongest in the valley. Best for couples prioritising luxury service over dramatic outdoor ceremony settings.

Ideal for: Luxury hotel-centric receptions
Vail Village

The Lodge at Vail

Classic alpine architecture in a centrally located Vail Village position with a range of indoor and outdoor event spaces. Walkable location and flexible layouts make it a practical option for couples who want village energy without fully committing to a mountaintop or remote venue format. Strong mid-market choice for traditional Vail aesthetics.

Ideal for: Mid-size traditional Vail weddings
Vail

Vail Golf & Nordic Clubhouse

Set along Gore Creek with open lawns and mountain views, this venue offers a relaxed and understated environment compared to resort properties. Scenic outdoor ceremony options with a quieter, less commercial feel while remaining close to Vail Village. The most accessible price point among Eagle County’s dedicated wedding venues.

Ideal for: Relaxed outdoor summer celebrations
Planning Guide

When to Marry in the Vail Valley

Summer
June to August

Peak season for outdoor ceremonies. Long evenings, wildflowers, and the most stable weather. Beano’s Cabin and Donovan Pavilion outdoor ceremonies are at their best. Saturdays book 18 to 24 months in advance at top venues. Temperatures at elevation stay cool, rarely above the mid-70s even in July.

Fall
September to October

The most visually striking season in Eagle County. Aspen color typically peaks the last two weeks of September. Light is softer, crowds thin, and the valley takes on a golden quality that summer cannot match. The best shoulder season for couples who want to avoid peak pricing and peak crowds without sacrificing conditions.

Winter
December to March

A dramatic but demanding season. Beano’s Cabin and Park Hyatt are particularly striking under snow. Guest transportation, I-70 access, and weather contingencies require careful planning. Couples who choose winter do so for the visual impact and the deliberate, intimate character of an off-season celebration. Fridays and Sundays offer the most availability.

Spring
April to May

The quietest season in the valley. Venues have strong availability and pricing is at its most flexible. Conditions are variable, late season snow is possible at elevation, and access to high mountain venues may be limited. For couples with a flexible vision and a willingness to work with what the season offers, spring can produce unexpectedly compelling imagery.

Frequently Asked

Questions About Vail Valley Weddings

What is the best Vail wedding venue for a small wedding?

For intimate celebrations under 80 guests, Beano’s Cabin is the most compelling option in the valley. Its capacity, setting, and sense of separation make it ideal for couples who want their guests to feel genuinely immersed rather than simply attending an event. Donovan Pavilion works well at smaller guest counts too, offering more flexibility in layout and design without a minimum spend as high as the major resort properties.

How much does a Vail Valley wedding cost?

Total wedding spend in the Vail Valley typically ranges from $80,000 to $300,000+ depending on guest count, venue, and vendor selection. Venue rental alone ranges from approximately $5,500 at Donovan Pavilion to $35,000 or more at flagship resort properties for peak season Saturdays. Catering, florals, planning, and photography represent the largest additional line items. Shoulder season dates, early June, September, and October, offer meaningful savings without sacrificing the valley’s visual character.

What is the difference between a Vail wedding and a Beaver Creek wedding?

Vail Village venues like Donovan Pavilion offer easier pedestrian access, walkable dining, and a town-centered atmosphere. Beaver Creek venues like Beano’s Cabin and Park Hyatt feel more contained and private. Beaver Creek Resort is a gated community, which creates a distinctly quieter, more exclusive environment. Couples who want a livelier, more accessible mountain town atmosphere often lean toward Vail. Those prioritizing privacy, exclusivity, and a slower pace gravitate toward Beaver Creek.

How far in advance should I book a Vail wedding venue?

For peak summer Saturdays at the most sought-after venues, 18 to 24 months is standard. Beano’s Cabin in particular is one of the most consistently booked wedding venues in Colorado, and popular dates disappear quickly. Donovan Pavilion operates on a city permit system and tends to have slightly more flexibility. Resort venues like Park Hyatt and Westin Riverfront operate on a first-come, first-served basis for event space, often booked alongside room block commitments. If you have a specific date in mind, beginning venue conversations as early as possible is strongly recommended.

Do I need a wedding planner for a Vail Valley wedding?

For any Vail Valley wedding above 50 guests, a planner with Eagle County experience is strongly recommended. Mountain logistics, vendor relationships, I-70 contingency planning, and altitude considerations are meaningfully more complex than urban weddings. Several venues in the valley, including Beano’s Cabin, either require or strongly encourage the use of a professional planner as a condition of booking. Planners with deep Vail Valley experience also tend to have access to preferred vendor relationships that improve both quality and pricing across the full vendor team.

What is the best time of year for a Vail wedding from a photography standpoint?

Late September through early October offers the most visually distinctive conditions, with aspen gold, soft directional light, and a quality of atmosphere that summer cannot match. July and August provide the longest evenings and the most reliable outdoor ceremony windows, which is important for timing portrait sessions and golden hour. Winter weddings under fresh snow at Beano’s Cabin or Park Hyatt produce some of the most striking imagery we create, but the compressed daylight and variable conditions require a photographer experienced in low-light mountain environments. Every season has genuine merit, and the strongest images come when the couple’s vision is matched to the season’s actual character rather than fighting against it.
